WEGU GmbH Leichtbausysteme (lightweight plastic systems) combines all the plastics manufacturing capabilities of the WEGU group under one roof.
It is a continuous challenge for our project engineers to develop new, innovative products and processing techniques. Our committed and highly skilled engineering teams have a thorough understanding of the requirements and needs of the automotive industry. Our strategic product groups exchange information on a daily basis with the R&D teams and purchasing departments of leading car manufacturers and their system suppliers.
Having two versatile state-of-the-art production sites for injection moulding, with a high level of automation in Germany and low wages in Slovakia, allows us to offer effective problem solutions and to design and manufacture innovative products with superior quality at low cost.

WEGU GmbH Leichtbausysteme has a unique set of skills to create both an optimized product design through the integration of functionality as well as innovative composite solutions. Based on a careful value analysis we are able to implement numerous methods of cost reduction e.g. through simplification or intelligent tooling.
Our injection moulding machinery for one-component-, two-component- and sandwich products with clamping forces ranging from 350 kN to 27000 kN can handle all part sizes that can be found in the automotive sector. Depending on the specific product requirements, our production will use either highly automated processes or skilled manual labour.
By focussing on these key areas we are well prepared for the general automotive trend towards a higher content of plastic assemblies in future vehicles.

Research & Development
In our product design we always use the latest mould-flow version. Tools for prototyping and product specific testing equipment are designed and manufactured in our own workshop, e.g. the WEGU roller test bench where we check the efficiency of waterspray reduction systems for truck fenders under realistic driving conditions.
For advanced testing methods and product development skills that cannot be found in-house we cooperate with appropriate academic institutions.
With a complete technical lab on our premises we can test prototypes, especially those subject to dynamic loads, under a large variety of conditions. Our in-house materials laboratory analyzes all relevant material specific characteristics and assists both our product development team and manufacturing experts who continuously monitor the quality of our production series.
